Steamboat Ski Area: is known for its
legendary snow quality – it’s ‘Champagne Powder’. We also call this light
and airy snow ‘ego snow’! For you will be able to zoom through it with ease.
It’s like floating on a cloud. Also legendary are Steamboats’ vast glades/
tree skiing. With varied levels of difficulty and widths between trees,
there are glades for most rider levels and plenty of fresh tracks for the
most avid powder hounds.
New: SnowBiking! BCSC did this in Vail a few years ago and had
a blast! Now SnowBikes are permitted on all terrain and lifts of the
Steamboat Ski Area with the exception of runs designated as "Terrain Park"
(Denoted by on-site signage and fencing). Participants must attend a
Steamboat Snowbike lesson or show proof of previous class attendance at one
of the participating Colorado SnowBike Passport resorts. Rentals run from
one hour to half day or full day rental. We’ll definitely have a group snow
bike day!
Olympians: Steamboat has produced more Olympians than any
other city in the world. While we are there, several USA Olympic team
members will be there, practicing. On Friday, Feb 5th, the town hosts a
major party with live music, fireworks, etc - to send off our athletes to
the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver!
Winter Carnival: Boy did we pick the right week to visit!
Steamboat will be hosting the Winter Carnival beginning on Feb. 3rd. There
will be many fun activities such as: free concerts, a film festival, ski
jumping, dual slalom bike race, snowboarding jam sessions, horse skiing for
the kids, tubing parties and much more.
With 2,965 acres, 165 trails and an average snowfall of over 331 inches -
Steamboat is always a favorite destination. Now add in our parties, mountain
picnic, NASTAR race, and evening hot springs trip and our gang of great
people – this is sure to be an awesome trip!
